HOP ABOARD THE LOVE TRAIN!

Are you following the Love Train Series? These sweet historical westerns feature a heroine who falls in love while riding the train. Not just any train, but the Union Pacific with Engine #1216, which includes a matchmaking conductor. To increase the tension, each heroine or hero or both have a secret. We all have secrets, don’t we? Mine are small—like the cost of the blouse I bought at the last Macy’s sale. Riders on the Love Train have more serious secrets not so easily overcome.

These are by some of my favorite authors, so let me help you keep up to date with the releases.

IVY by Kit Morgan, July 1st

Ivy Pembrooke has a problem. With her brother gone, she’s now heir to the Pembrooke fortune and estate. That is, if she lives long enough. After overhearing a plot to kill her, she does what any other heiress would do—she makes a run for it. But how is she going to elude her would-be killers and claim what is rightfully hers? Especially when said killer is her uncle? She decides to run now, and figure out things later. In the meantime, she needs a way of escape.

Darius Jones made a promise. Quit the ranch he worked for in Texas, and return to Oregon, and take his half-blind mother to Clear Creek. The doctor there was said to work miracles, and Mama needed all the help she could get. But his mother wsn’t the only one. A passenger in the form of a petite, blonde-haired spitfire was going to be the death of him. Literally. Was someone trying to do her harm or was trouble her middle name? Yet there was something about her, and doggone if he didn’t try to help. He just hoped doing so didn’t get them both killed.

AINSLEY by Jo-Ann Roberts, July 15th

Some people come into your life as lessons…

Unexpected fatherhood finds former bank detective Lucas Harmon desperate for a woman to care for his orphaned nieces. A governess … perhaps? A housekeeper … maybe? A wife … definitely not! Six years ago the wealthy Chicago socialite he planned to wed publicly spurned his affections. Despite his determination to determine his feelings, a meddling matchmaking conductore and an encounter with a past acquaintance threatens to upend his heart.

… some come as blessings

Anxious to leave behind the whispers and stares of two jilted love affairs, Boston socialite, Ainsley MacKenzie, hopes for solitude on the way to New Hope, Kansas. But when the kindly conductor enlists her help to care for two orphaned girls, she couldn’t say no. Little did she know their uncle and guardian was the one man she couldn’t forget… Lucas Harmon.

Taking a chance, Ainsley offers Lucas an unusual (some might say scandalous!) arrangement. She’ll look after the children, read them stories, and cook their meals until Christmas, giving Lucas time to find a permanent replacement. Yet, the longer she cares for the family the more she longs to be part of it—whatever the risk to her heart.

All Aboard The Love Train …

The current release in the Love Train Series is PENELOPE from Heather Blanton, released on June 15th.

Here’s the description:

She’s about to say, “I do,” when a telegram tells her to run.

Penelope Barker believes in marrying for love … love of food on the table and a roof overhead. Marrying a crime boss then might mean a little scandal, but it also means plenty of hot meals, soft beds, and decent clothes.

Mere minutes before the wedding, Penelope receives a telegram from her sister warning her that the groom is a killer and she must run. Trusting her sister, and admonished not to trust anyone else, Penelope dons a nun’s habit and jumps a train to Misery, Wyoming.

Lucius “Lucky” Burnett is a range detective—a term synonymous with hired gun. His wake of bodies never bothered him until an innocent child was killed. Now, Lucky believes he’s not decent company for anyone, especially a good woman.

Hired by the Lodgepole Ranch to find rustlers, he meets the puzzling, sassy nun on the train and the more they’re around each other in Misery, the more the attraction grows. There’s not a thing he can do about it, of course.

But when trouble finds Penelope, the truth behind her habit sparks gut-wrenching choices … for them both.

Will the sacrifices for love bring them what they want … or keep them apart for good.

Ivy Pembrooke couldn’t take it anymore! She wanted nothing more to do with her conniving uncle. In fact, she made it a goal to get rid of the Pembrooke name! The question was, how? The minute they found out who she was, they’d want nothing more to do with her. Running away was her only option.
