WOO HOO! NEW RELEASE GABE KINCAID IS ON HIS WAY!

Thanks to all those who helped launch GABE KINCAID on Sunday. What a great party we had. Cyberchampagne sand cyberchocolate served to all. Thanks for helping send Gabe on his way.

If you haven't yet purchased your copy, please accept my invitation to do so. Here are the links
Amazon    Barnes and Noble  and   Kobo. It's also supposed to be up at the iBookstore and iTunes. And please, please, please leave a review after you read the book. Reviews are so important to authors.

If you've never participated in a Facebook Launch Party, you're missing some fun and prizes. Other authors drop by, and we have a ball discussing various aspects of writing. You know authors--if we're not writing, we're thinking and talking about writing. ☺ We can't help ourselves.

Bestie Geri Foster and I planned this past launch together and called it Bad Boys and Cowboys. Okay, technically Gabe Kincaid is not a cowboy; he's a lawyer in the Old West. Technically, A. J. Roddio is not a bad boy, he's an agent for Falcon Securities who helps Falcon's main secretary, Zoe Ross, save the day. We write fiction, okay?

Now, I'm off to my critique meeting to discuss the book on which I'm currently at work, BACK TO MY TEXAS HOME, book 2 of the sweet contemporary Texas Home series. Book one is HOME SWEET TEXAS HOME.

PREJUDICE MEETS PRIDE - BY RACHEL ANDERSON

Prejudice Meets Pride by Rachael Anderson Book Cover

Prejudice Meets Pride by Rachael Anderson

After years of pinching pennies and struggling to get through art school, Emma Makie’s hard work finally pays off with the offer of a dream job. But when tragedy strikes, she has no choice but to make a cross-country move to Colorado Springs to take temporary custody of her two nieces. She has no money, no job prospects, and no idea how to be a mother to two little girls, but she isn’t about to let that stop her. Nor is she about to accept the help of Kevin Grantham, her handsome new neighbor, who seems to think she’s incapable of doing anything on her own.

Fun, compelling, and romantic, Prejudice Meets Pride is the story of a guy who thinks he has it all figured out and a girl who isn't afraid to show him that he doesn't. It’s about learning what it means to trust, figuring out how to give and to take, and realizing that not everyone gets to pick the person they fall in love with. Sometimes, love picks them.

TAMRA LASSITER AND SOMETHING TO LOSE

Tamra Lassiter is my guest today on her blog tour to introduce readers to her romantic suspense, SOMETHING TO LOSE.  As you will learn from the excerpt below, this book is fast-paced and intriguing. First here’s a mini-interview with Tamra:

1. What is the first curse word that comes to mind?  How often and why do you use it?

Asshole. I don’t use it very often, but some days there are a lot of assholes on the road.

2. How would you spend ten thousand bucks?

Family trip to Rome, Italy. I will get there someday.

3. What are 5 things within touching distance?

My Great Dane, English Bulldog, Kindle, television remote and William & Mary blanket.

4. Do you have a crush on anyone?

Not so much a crush, but Chris Hemsworth is sure nice to look at. Plus, the Thor outfit doesn’t hurt.

5. What is your least favorite word?

Putrid. It just sounds awful.

Something to Lose
by Tamra Lassiter

SOMETHING TO LOSE Blurb:

Everyone has something to lose.

Camden Piotrowski is justifiably upset to find her boyfriend in the arms of another woman. But it’s not the end of her world and definitely not something that a bubble bath, good wine, and cookie dough won’t help. Her pity party is interrupted when handsome Seth Vendetti bursts into her bathroom. She soon discovers that her world and those in it are not as they seem. Can she trust Seth’s version of the truth and make him realize that even he has something to lose?

SOMETHING TO LOSE Excerpt:

His hands form fists that rest on his hips. “Are you threatening an FBI agent?”

I hadn’t really thought of it like that, but I’m not backing down. I put my hands on my hips as well and stand on my tippy toes so that my face is close to his. I could use those three-inch heels right about now, but I hold my ground. His body is tight. I see his pulse beating in his neck.

“Call it what you want. Just get out of my house.”

His hands move behind my neck. He pulls me to him and before I even know what’s happening, he’s kissing me and even more surprising, I’m kissing him, too. His strong fingers move up and down my back as his lips work their magic on mine. I thought I’d been kissed before, but never have I been kissed like this. I still don’t see fireworks, instead I am the firework. Heat explodes from my lips down my throat and to the rest of my body. This isn’t the warmth of fairy tales where the prince and princess kiss their happily-ever-after. This is the battle of the dragon and I don’t know what because my brain is no longer working.

His stubble scratches my chin and the sensation kindles the fire even more. My stomach lurches and I feel weightless, light as a feather now, falling from high in the sky. His hands move to my hips and he pulls me to him tightly. He kisses my chin and then my neck and down to the opening of my robe.

It’s like I wake up from some out-of-body experience to find myself full of lust and clinging to a complete stranger. His hand slips into my robe. I startle and jump back, hugging myself with one hand, the other covering my mouth as my eyes go wide in complete disbelief.

SNEAK PEEK AT OUT OF THE PAST BY GERI FOSTER

If you've paid attention, you know that Geri Foster and I are hosting a Facebook Launch Party called BAD BOYS AND COWBOYS this Sunday, April 27, from 5:00 until 10:00 with lots of prizes and surprise authors visiting. We are launching Geri's OUT OF THE PAST and my GABE KINCAID. What you may not know is that Geri has redesigned her book cover to add some pizazz.

This is a Falcon Security series novella featuring Zoe Ross, the Pollyanna-ish secretary to Frank Hamilton, CEO of Falcon. Zoe has turned her life around and gives back to those less fortunate. Each of the agents is fond of and protective of Zoe. She has said that working for Frank is like having a group of big brothers. What she feels for A. J. Roddio is not brotherly, but much deeper. They're still dancing around how much they care for one another when tragedy strikes.

One night after work, Zoe is kidnapped by a Croatian. Frank is due to testify against the Coratian's boss for crimes against humanity for the United Nations. The plan is to use Zoe as a weapon to prevent Frank testifying. A. J.'s determined to rescue Zoe before harm can come to her. And they're both determined that Frank will appear to speak up against the man who murdered innocent women and children.

To work through the steps necessary to capture all the dirty players, Zoe will have to make a difficult choice. A. J. will have to watch. Can they come through this ordeal with a strong love or will the experience destroy all that's between them?

As with other fast-paced Falcon novels, OUT OF THE PAST is a fast-paced romantic suspense that keeps readers guessing to the end. While Zoe is not an agent, she's a secretary who has agents supporting her, so expect to see the same action as the longer Falcon novels. Fans of Geri Foster's award winning, bestselling series are certain to love OUT OF THE PAST.

In the meantime, Geri is at work on the next Falcon book, OUT OF DEPTHS. Watch for it this summer!

OUT OF THE PAST is available at Amazon, Nook, Kobo and iTunes.

Somewhere My Lass by Beth Trissel: Neil MacKenzie’s well-ordered life turns to chaos when Mora Campbell shows up claiming he’s her fiancé from 1602 Scotland. Her avowal that she was chased to the future by clan chieftain, Red MacDonald, is utter nonsense, and Neil must convince her she’s just addled from a blow to her head–until the MacDonald himself shows up wanting blood.

Going Back For Romeo by LL Muir: Alone with a Highlander, in his castle, on a cold dark night...Okay, so it wasn’t that cold. Jillian is duped back to 15th Century Scotland to rescue a plaid-clad Romeo and Juliet. The monster in her way, however, is a handsome Highlander who may just be her own Romeo.

Swordsong by Skhye Moncrief: He's arrived to help her create the perfect bride. His ticket home relies on a lonely woman haunted by more than apparitions. If time-travel duty, romance, and a bit of magic don't help them realize their destiny resonates in mysterious fairy SWORDSONG, all known history could change.

Highland Mystic by Sky Purington: Caitriona is not who she seems. Her fate was foreseen long before birth and so important it will impact all future MacLomains. When dreams of Alan Stewart begin, she knows the time has come. But how to convince a Highland laird from another century that he must die for her? Especially when she couldn't bear his death.

My Honorable Highlander by Nancy Lee Badger: Bumbling present day herbalist, Haven MacKay, gets more than she bargains for when her love spell goes awry, is cast back in time, and meets her true love -- Laird Kirkwall Gunn. Kirk’s plans go slightly off course when he falls in love with a woman wandering through the Scottish Highlands. After all, he has pledged to marry another, from an enemy clan, in order to end a century-old feud.

Out of the Blue by Caroline Clemmons: Police Detective Brendan Hunter wants answers. Who shot him and killed his partner? Why? And why does Deirdre Dougherty know details of the event? He can’t let her out of his sight until she confesses to how she learned details no one but he and his late partner knew.

A Train Through Time by Bess McBride: Ellie awakens on a train to Seattle to find herself on a bizarre historical train full of late Victorian era reenactors. When handsome Robert convinces her the date is 1901, Ellie presumes she is in the middle of a very interesting dream—a dream she doesn’t want to awaken from.

Captive Hero by Donna Michaels: Test flying an invisible plane—unreal. Time-shifting to WWII—unbelievable. Capturing a hero—unavoidable. When test pilot Samantha Sheppard accidentally flies back in time and inadvertently saves a WWII pilot, she changes history and makes a crack decision to abduct him back to the present, but convincing him it’s another century proves tough.

Desires of the Heart by Linda LaRoque: At a cottage in the UK, recently divorced Loren Fairchild rebuilds her life. A simple-minded woman appears and triggers an event that hurls Loren 60 years into the past. During WWII, Miles Chapeau’s wife is hurt in an air raid. She now has the mind of a child. One day she disappears. That very night a strange woman appears. Caught in a web of confusion, Loren and Miles struggle with the direction their lives must take.

KILLING SECRETS . . .SOME SECRETS ARE BETTER LEFT DEAD

Quick Facts
Release Date: April 17, 2014
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Formats to buy: Kindle, Nook, PDF, Kobo, mobi, epub, pdf, paperback.

Book Synopsis
Some secrets are better left dead.

Rachel James’ ex-husband is released from prison determined to reclaim her and her little girl — the child is his key to controlling the James fortune. Frightened, Rachel flees to Denver with the child who hasn’t uttered a word since her daddy went to prison.

Contractor Patrick Thorne wants nothing to do with another of his parents’ charity cases. He failed his own wife so abysmally she took her own life as well as his unborn son’s. After two years, it’s time to concentrate on the bid he’s won and the saboteur trying to destroy his construction firm.

There is no room for trust in either of their hearts. But trust is all that will untangle the secrets that dominate their lives, free a little girl of her silent prison, and save them all from a serial killer who stands too close.

Excerpt:
“I’ve only filed three police reports, but I’m sure I can lay half a dozen more attacks at this bugger’s door.” He ran his hand through his hair to corral his frustration. “What about fingerprints on the hammer? Have you identified anything in the clothes left behind?” Somehow, the single untouched wall with women’s clothing stapled all over it like some kind of macabre trophy wall was more disturbing than the vicious holes his saboteur left everywhere else.

“It’s one of your own hammers kept in a tool box with a broken lock. Anybody could have handled it. I’ll be surprised if they find a viable print, although the clothes might reveal something.” Jack heaved a long suffering sigh. “We’ve barely had time to catalogue the evidence since you called us this morning. We’re not exactly sitting on our thumbs, no matter what you think.”“What I think is it’s becoming more and more difficult to keep my problems under wraps.”

“Well, you wouldn’t know it after reading that sweet, full-page feature the Denver Post ran on you yesterday.” Jack picked up the newspaper section sitting on the corner of Patrick’s desk and read the headline aloud, “‘No Thorns in Thorne Enterprise’s Rosy Future’. According to this you’re ‘a new contractor barely in his thirties with a Midas touch who’s made it to the major leagues with the multi-million dollar, upscale Villas at Three Oaks Ranch’. You must have really schmoozed that reporter, bro.”

“The headline would have read something radically different,” Patrick replied sourly, “if she’d dug a little deeper and uncovered the truth.”

Angry again at the thought of what he stood to lose, he reached across the desk, snatched the newspaper out of Jack’s hand, and threw it into a wire basket for his office manager, Jane Brown, to file. “You know what I’ve been dealing with these last few months,” he said. “Vandals tag building sites. Supplies go missing. Equipment breaks down.

“But this is different, Jack. You saw those walls at Southgate. This isn’t kids on a lark, pissing out territorial boundaries.”

“I agree. But as my captain pointed out, I’m a little close to the situation and I’m not on the case.”

Patrick barked a harsh laugh. “What does this guy have to do before the department takes this seriously? Leave a dead body?”

“It might take just that,” Jack retorted. “Right now we’re up to our armpits in what’s rolled downhill from the mayor’s office after the kidnapping of that councilman’s daughter last week.”

If it weren’t for the radios blasting all day on his sites Patrick wouldn’t keep up with local events but even he’d heard about the coed who’d disappeared while he was in Cheyenne. “She’s been gone, what, four days? Do you have any leads?”

“We don’t even have a ransom note. After a co-worker dropped her off at her apartment complex, it’s like the girl disappeared into thin air.”

Patrick saw Jack’s jaw tighten, a sign of the increasing stress he’d been under in recent months. “You think she’s a victim of the Angel Killer, don’t you?”

The local news media had dubbed the serial killer with the name because of the angel tattoo he’d burned into each of the girls he brutally killed. He remembered Jack’s fury, as one of the detectives on the task force, over the leak of that critical piece of information.

The Author- K. L. Docter:

Karen Docter writes two different kinds of romance novels....Contemporary Romantic Comedy w/a Karen Docter: Romance...With a Kick of Humor!

Romantic Suspense w/a K.L. Docter: Women hunted by killers...men who'd die to protect them.

K. L. Docter
Karen's contemporaries are cute romantic comedies. She loves writing about real men and women with dreams and goals that don't allow for a relationship just so she can throw them in each other's path...with a tickle and a smile. Her romantic suspense novels (as K.L. Docter) are also filled with romance, although the dangers the hero and heroine face are intense, usually because a serial killer is bent on ending one or both of their lives before they can fall in love. These are psychological, woman-in-jeopardy stories.

Karen's an award winning author, a four-time Romance Writers of America® Golden Heart® finalist, and won the coveted Kiss of Death Romance Writers Daphne du Maurier Award Category (Series) Romantic Mystery Unpublished division. When she's not saving her characters from death and destruction or helping them fall in love, she loves camping and fishing with her family, reading, gardening and cooking. If she can do most of those things over a campfire, all the better!

ALMOST A BRIDE?

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Sarah will be awarding a digital copy of ALMOST A BRIDE to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour. Remember, the more you comment, the better your chances to win.

Buck has always been the good sister, level-headed by comparison to Scarlett, her flaky, impulsive twin. But when Tara learns her fiancé has been cheating on her with one of his school students, the orderly world she’s created for herself suddenly feels as if it’s falling apart. For years she chose the safe option, but from now on she’s going to live a little, stretch her wings…be a little daring. And if that means acting on the long-suppressed feelings she’s always had for Reid Dalton, then so be it!

Reid has wanted Tara from the moment he met her, but she’s always been out of bounds. Not only is she his patrol partner at the Bozeman PD, she’s also engaged. But then her relationship blows up, and Reid finds himself battling his own instinct to stake his claim with the finest, hottest woman he’s ever known.

Even if anything did happen between them, it would only ever be temporary - Reid’s a born wanderer, while Tara’s roots run deep in Marietta. So even if things are good between them, it seems their romance is destined to be short and sweet...

Tara’s twin sister, Scarlett, also has a Spring Brides story: look out for Second Chance Bride by Trish Morey. Details from montanabornbooks.com

Now enjoy an excerpt from ALMOST A BRIDE:

Reid Dalton pumped gas into his GMC pickup, one ear tuned to the conversation going on between his friends inside the truck. Grant was giving Brett a hard time for missing an easy layup during the basketball game they’d just finished, and Brett was serving it straight back at him with both barrels.

Reid grinned to himself, feeling pleasantly tired after an hour of charging up and down the court, trouncing the Bozeman Fire Department team. The informal competition between the police department and the firefighters had become a regular thing over the past few months. Reid wasn’t sure which part of their weekly matchups he enjoyed the most—the rapid-fire pace of the game itself, or the inevitable shit giving and taking that occurred afterward.

“You want to know my opinion?” he asked as the pump clicked off, signaling the tank was full.

“Not particularly,” Brett said, which earned him a guffaw from Grant.

“You both need to lift your games. Drink less beer, run a few more miles,” Reid said.

Grant made a rude noise, while Brett gave him a one-fingered salute. Reid was still laughing as he headed into the gas station to pay the cashier.

Then he saw the couple exiting the motel next door to the Gas-And-Go Mart and his step faltered.

The girl he didn’t recognize, but she was young and blonde and clinging to her man as though her very life depended on it. Reid watched as Simon Garfield said something before kissing her in a way that left no doubt whatsoever as to the nature of their relationship.

Damn.

Just... damn.

Tara would be devastated.

For a moment he was frozen as he absorbed all the implications of what he’d just witnessed. Tara had been planning the wedding for the past few months and as her patrol partner, there was precious little Reid wasn’t privy to. Like the fact that Tara and Simon planned on having the reception at Le Petit Chateau in Bozeman, and that Tara was limiting her attendants to just her twin, Scarlett, and that today she had an appointment at Marietta’s one and only bridal salon to pick out her wedding dress...

Belatedly he glanced back at the car, hoping the other guys hadn’t seen, but they were both frowning, staring out the windshield at the sordid little drama unfolding in the parking lot next door. There wasn’t a doubt in Reid’s mind that they recognized Tara’s fiancé. They’d all attended the engagement party Tara and Simon held back in February.

Reid mouthed a four-letter word.

What a nightmare.

BLUEBONNET TIME IN TEXAS - AND A FACEBOOK LAUNCH PARTY!

April is bluebonnet time here in North Central Texas. I love the cheerful flowers that signal spring is really here. Instead of lingering outdoors to admire the bluebonnets, I’m seated at my computer editing my proof of GABE KINCAID in preparation for the huge Facebook Launch Party, BAD BOYS AND COWBOYS, that Geri Foster and I plan from 5:00 to 9:00 pm CDT for April 27th

We know Falcon agents are not really bad boys in the usual meaning of the word, but they are bad news for those who oppose them. Gabe is not really a cowboy, but lives among them. Besides, we needed a catchy phrase, so please work with us, all right?

Yes, the 27th is later than our first plan, but we realized our first choice was on Easter weekend. We had chosen the 18th without looking closely at the calender. That day was my dad's birthday and the 19th was the birthday of Geri's dad. Emotion overcame caution. Now we've resolved the situation.

Geri will be launching the latest of her Falcon Securities series, a novella titled OUT OF THE PAST. As mentioned previously, I’ll be launching the latest book in my Kincaid series, GABE KINCAID. Here’s the banner created by our friend DeLaine Roberts:

DeLaine is a fellow member in the Yellow Rose Chapter of Romance Writers of America. She’s a multi-talented woman who is kind enough to share her knowledge with friends. Lucky for us, right?

OUT OF THE PAST is the story of Zoe, the Pollyanish secretary to the head of Falcon Securities. Here’s the blurb for OUT OF THE PAST:

Zoe Ross turned her life around two years ago with the help of her dead father’s ex CIA partner, Frank Hamilton, CEO of Falcon Securities. After rehab and a life changing seminar, she now works for the man who saved her from the depths of hell.  Zoe is kidnapped by a band of Croatian’s hoping to hold her captive until her boss refuses to testify against their leader who’s on trial before the UN for crimes against humanity. She’s alone and defenseless but the man she loves, Falcon agent AJ Roddio, is determined to find her at all cost.

AJ has been a Falcon agent long enough to know he has to find Zoe quickly. His boss is furious that anyone would lay hands on Zoe and tells AJ to do whatever is necessary to save her life. AJ is emotionally shattered at the thought of anything happening to the woman he’s grown to love. Can he find her in time?

AJ and Zoe must outmaneuver a cunning murderer determined to destroy their boss and get away with the slaughter of innocent women and children. Zoe is forced to step back into her old ways while AJ must face her past and decide if all things can be forgiven.

GABE KINCAID is the fourth book in the Kincaid series. I’ve had a lot of emails asking for more Kincaids, and I hope this one pleases readers. I truly enjoyed writing it. Those Kincaid men are all intelligent hunks, and this heroine is feisty and beautiful. Here’s a blurb of GABE KINCAID:

Gabe Kincaid has reasons to hate lies and those who tell them. He moved from Austin to Kincaid Springs and joined his great uncle’s law firm. Gabe believes he’s happy and pushes aside those moments of loneliness, of wishing for more. He strongly believes in the law, in justice, and obeying rules. Doing what’s right is fulfilling, isn’t it? Then why is he so fascinated with a circus fortuneteller who spins tales faster than a cowboy whirls his lariat?

Katie Worthington poses as Dorothy Duncan in a small-time circus. If she isn’t behind the scenes mending costumes or in the circus kitchen, she’s disguised as the fortuneteller, Maharani Shimza, Mystic of the East. Even so, she worries about being killed by the men pursuing her. She fears a brawl at her fortune telling tent that sends her into the Kincaid’s protective custody will end with her exposure and death. Then, a murder at the circus implicates her. How can she escape when that attorney pops up every time she turns around?
Will Gabe and Katie let the sparks between them ignite into a passionate romance or will her secrets destroy their chance at a happily ever after?
