“What if selling the yarn by mistake was just a cover story?”
“A cover story for what?” Bettina asked, surprised enough to take her eyes off the road for a second and glance at Pamela.
“What if the yarn has something to do with Amy’s murder? She was supposed to deliver it somewhere and the killer intercepted her.”
Bettina glanced at Pamela again, a disbelieving smile twisting her lips. “The murderer thought she’d be carrying it around with her?”
Pamela shrugged. “The police never found the knitting bag.”
“But you have the yarn now.” “Maybe the murderer’s next stop, after discovering the yarn wasn’t in the knitting bag, was Amy’s apartment. But Dorrie had already cleaned everything out.”
“I hope he doesn’t find out what Dorrie did with the yarn,” Bettina said, still smiling. “Or you’re next . . .”
Peggy Ehrhart is a former English professor who lives in Leonia, New
Jersey, where she writes mysteries and plays blues guitar. She holds
a Ph.D. in medieval literature from the University of Illinois and
taught writing and literature at Queens College, CUNY, and Fairleigh
Dickinson University, where she was a tenured full professor. Her
short stories have appeared in Futures Mystery Anthology
Magazine, Crime and Suspense, Flashing in the Gutters, Spinetingler,
Crime Scene: New Jersey 2, and Murder New York Style. A longtime
member of Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime, Peggy
served on the board of MWA New York as head of the Mentor Committee.
She was president of Sisters in Crime NY/TriState from 2013 to 2015.
Peggy regularly attends mystery writing conferences and participates
in conference panels and also gives talks on mystery fiction at
libraries in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

I can only knit simple scarves but I certainly would love a knitting-murder mystery.

how ironic that a knitting needle would be stabbed through her heart with her wearing a home made sweater. those things can be dangerous I know. Mom used to knit a lot and we were forever finding the needles somewhere, in the couch cushions, on chairs, in the bathroom, just everywhere.

I love the covers of this book and Died in the Wool. That cat is adorable. this year I would like to read a cozy mystery and since I am a crafty person and an animal lover, I would love to read these two books. on my to buy list.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone play blues on the guitar yet. this sounds like an interesting idea. our daughter played blues on her alto sax. she was a natural at it.

I find it fun that a murder is somehow directly involved with knitting and the yarn. my mom could knit really well. I tried, but really had no knack or interest. but I did love to crochet.

I just love this cover and it is on my to read list. when our only daughter went off to college, it was like a huge hole in the house. I was able to fill it with a lot of volunteering at church and quilting. I let each quilt tell a story in itself.

I am guessing that teaching writing and literature has helped in your writing? thank you for being a teacher to our students. we really need more teachers that care for what the students learn and care about them. too many I see are not passionate about their career. I have a friend that teaches 3rd grade and she is passionate about being a teacher and about her students.
