SAILOR TAKE WARNING -- AND COZY MYSTERY BIG SALE!

Don't forget the Rafflecopter giveaway at the end of this post!

Sailor Take Warning
The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries Book 11
by
M K Scott
Genre: Cozy Mystery

The commissioner banned citizen interference in police investigations, but that’s never stopped Donna before and won’t stop her now.

A race yacht has capsized. A millionaire has gone missing. If that and the involvement of a would-be psychic aren’t reason enough to worry, adding Donna’s meddling mother to the mix will jeopardize Legacy’s reputation even further.

Can Donna rein in the chaos before it spells disaster for everyone involved?

The round golden sun glistened in the pristine blue skies rather like a Christmas ornament, except it was May. The low hum of the waves punctuated with an occasional childish scream of joy as a child met the ocean for the first time provided background sound. Donna Tollhouse, innkeeper, and her sister-in-law Maria stood on The Painted Lady Inn’s wraparound porch while peering in the direction of the ocean, which would have been visible if the trees hadn’t leafed out so much.

“I could help with your regatta-themed dishes,” Maria offered with a grin.

There were a few more screams, not so childish but equally playful. Donna, who had been holding Baby Cici, her niece, cut her eyes to her sister-in-law Maria and asked, “Did they hire another half dozen hot life guards this year?”

“Oh, my!” Maria rolled her eyes and waved her hand in front of her face as if the thought heated her up. “You should see them. I doubt they’ll be here long. Most probably aspire to be models or actors.”

“Well then,” Donna began, then cast a mischievous glance behind her where her husband, Mark, was seated in one of the wicker chairs reading the local newspaper. “It’s been quite a while since I’ve taken a stroll on the beach.”

Mark lowered his newspaper to reply, “I’ll be more than glad to take a walk on the beach with you. No reason for you to join the mob of Legacy women drooling over boys young enough to be your son.”

A derisive snort erupted from Maria. “There’s a female lifeguard, or maybe two, attracting all the old geezers’ attention.”

M. K. Scott, Author

M. K. Scott is the husband and wife writing team behind The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Morgan K Wyatt is the general wordsmith, while her husband, Scott, is the grammar hammer and physics specialist. He uses his engineering skills to explain how fast a body falls when pushed over a cliff and various other felonious activities. The Internet and experts in the field provide forensic information, while the recipes and B and B details require a more hands on approach. Morgan's daughter, who manages a hotel, provides guest horror stories to fuel the plot lines. The couple's dog, Chance, is the inspiration behind Jasper, Donna's dog. Murder Mansion is the first book in The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Overall, it is a fun series to create and read. Drop Dead Handsome is the second book in the series.

TO CATCH A THIEF

To Catch A Thief
by Nan Dixon

GENRE: Contemporary

Nan Dixon has a Rafflecopter giveaway at the end of this post.

TO CATCH A THIEF Blurb:

What would you do for your family?

When Carolina Castillo’s once vivacious mother becomes ill, she gives up her singing dreams and comes home to Savannah. She’d do anything for her Mamá, even work at Fitzgerald House for the family she should have been part of. She’d even steal.

Carolina’s decisions make perfect sense until she comes up against the immovable rock that is gorgeous FBI agent Sage Cornell. The honorable cop sees the world in black-and-white. He would never understand the difficult choices she’s had to make, the secrets she’s been forced to keep close. And he could never love a woman like her. Or could he?

TO CATCH A THIEF Excerpt:

“I really appreciate you coming to the hospital.” How many times had Carolina said that already?

Sage slid closer. “I want to see you again.”

She could see the kiss coming.

He stopped inches from her face and asked, “Can I kiss you?”

“Yes.” Her single word was a whisper.

His lips were gentle. Sweet. Light pressure with a little scrape from his stubble.

“Nice,” he murmured, brushing kisses on her cheeks and eyes.

Her hands rested against his chest. “Really nice.”

Sage leaned in. His tongue licked the seam of her lips, seeking entrance.

She opened and stroked his tongue with hers. He tasted of coffee and mint and something dark and sexy. His chocolate-citrus scent made her want to sip at his lips, kiss his eyelids and nibble on his collarbone. She gripped his shoulders, the muscles hot under her hands.

He tipped her head and buried his fingers in her hair.

She fell hard into their kiss, wanting to explore the firm body beneath her fingers. “Sage.”

He pulled her closer.

Pain slashed her chest as her seat belt locked in place. "Ooh."

They laughed.

He cupped her cheek. “I guess your car is trying to tell us something.”

That she should take him up on his offer to come up to his apartment?

“I can meet you at the hospital in the morning,” Sage suggested. “Maybe we could have breakfast nearby?”

Guilt had her sitting back behind the wheel. While kissing Sage, she’d forgotten about her mother. “I’ll have to see what’s happening.”

“Sure. Sure.” He brushed another kiss on her lips, this one sweet and soft. “Will you let me know when you get home? I don’t want to worry that you didn’t make it.”

Had anyone ever cared if she got home safely? “I’ll call.”

INTERVIEW WITH NAN DIXON

Where did you grow up? Siblings? Locale? Were you considered a “bookworm” or a jock? Married, single? Children?

I was born in Minneapolis, but we moved to Sioux Falls before I went to kindergarten. I grew up in a family of five kids, right in the middle. My mother was British and I thought everyone had teatime until I was in sixth grade.

My family owned a cabin near Brainerd, MN which is lake country in the state. (My sisters and I now own it.)  My paternal grandparents had the cabin next to us and four uncles and one aunt had places on the lake. There were always tons of cousins to play with when we were there. I was both a bookworm and a jock, reflecting both my parents’ interests. Mother was a journalist, poet and playwright, but she could walk on her hands! We were a skiing family, both snow and water and took a yearly trip to Colorado. And we had a trampoline in our backyard, so there were lots of kids at the house. I also played golf and I was captain on the University of Minnesota golf team for three years. (We had a lot of fun!)

Even though I was a finance executive in healthcare and then a pharmaceutical company, I somehow survived having five kids. (1 set of twins.) If you can’t guess, I love the chaos of being around lots of people!

Who are your favorite authors and favorite genres?

I read Romance—all the time. I’ve already started to read the 2018 RITA finalists and I started with HelenKay Dimond a double RITA finalists. My agent also represents her and we end up signing next to each other at RWA book signings.

My auto-buys are Nora Roberts, JR Ward, Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, Pintip Dunn, Amy Patrick, AE Jones, Cat Schield and so many more authors I call my friends.

What’s your favorite way to relax and recharge? Hobbies?

Like I said, I read all the time. But I also knit. I’m making tea cozies right now for a reader’s event. I thought the idea of afternoon tea complete with tea pots, tea and cozies fit my B&B series. I also love to cook and have all the kids over for a meal. And that means prosecco will be poured.

Do you have a favorite quote that sums up how you feel about life?

I have two:
Variety is the spice of life.
And – Moderation in all things. (My mother said these all the time.)

How long have you been writing?

I toyed with a middle grade book almost thirty years but never finished it, or learned anything about the craft of writing. Then maybe twenty years ago I started to write at night after the kids were in bed. Again I knew nothing about craft. Finally, I took classes and joined my local RWA chapter. And then ten years ago the pharmaceutical company I worked for was sold and all my stock options had to be cashed in. I decided to write full-time. BEST DECISION EVER!

Where do you prefer to write? Do you need quiet, music, solitude? PC or laptop?

I have an office in the house. (Used to be a bedroom.) I write on my desk treadmill so I can get my steps in. It is easier in solitude, but I think because I can handle chaos, I can write anywhere. I don’t usually have music playing if I am drafting, unless it is classical music, but when I am revising I have my iPod playing.

Are you a plotter or a panzer?

I used to be a pantser, but now plot using archetypes, GMC, and Save the Cat steps. (See I finally learned craft!)

Do you use real events or persons in your stories or as an inspiration for stories?

Real events are usually an idea generator for me. The book I am working on right now was conceived after I dropped my daughter off at college and was driving home. I was listening to the BBC and they were talking about genetic modifications. I plotted what is now a four-book series from Ohio to Minnesota.

Do you set daily writing goals? Word count? Number of chapters? Do you get a chance to write every day?

Since this is my job, I treat it like a job. When I’m drafting I set word count goals—usually 1500 to 3000 per day. When I am revising, depending on whether it is revising a first draft or revisions from my editor, I know what I have to accomplish to meet my deadlines. There is still a lot of financial executive in me, so I log in and out of a spreadsheet all day long to see where I am spending my time.

What do you hope your writing brings to readers?

A smile, a laugh, a few tears and a sigh when the hero and heroine find their happily-ever-after.

What long-term plans do you have for your career?

I would like to publish three books a year. And it sure would be fun to make a list!

Would you like to tell us what you’re working on now?

I’m working on THE PERFECT CHILDREN a romantic suspense. It’s the book I dreamed up after dropping my daughter off at college. I had drafted book 1 before I sold my debut, but never got back to it. Now that I have finished the FITZGERALD HOUSE series, I’ve returned to it.

Premise is: Three men find out they are almost genetically identical, but they all have different mothers. The secret group now using the genetic modifications does not want the truth behind how the three men were created to be discovered. Trouble ensues!

What advice would you give to unpublished authors?

Learn your craft! I spent years and wrote five books without knowing what I was doing. And read. I remember taking an online class from Mary Buckham and her saying to read books published in the last five years. And read best-sellers.

Share a fun fact readers wouldn’t know about you.

My sisters and I have been taking long weekend sister trips for over twenty-five years. (Our mother used to come with us.) A trip to sister trip to Savannah is how this series started.

Share something about you that would surprise or shock readers.

Maybe not so shocking, but this book originally had ghost in it. The B and B was going to be haunted. And I believe that after my brother died—he stopped by to say goodbye.

Is your book a series? If so, how long? Family saga, other?

TO CATCH A THIEF is Book 6 of the FITZGERALD HOUSE series. Fitzgerald House is a B and B in the historic district of Savannah run by the three Fitzgerald series. You can read them as stand-alone.

Can you give readers a blurb about your book?

How about a PG excerpt from TO CATCH A THIEF:

Sage boosted his butt onto the stool, moaning like he was Gramps after being in the saddle for a day.
Two women worked behind the counter drawing beers. He closed his eyes and took a couple of deep breaths.
“Sage?”
His eyes blinked open. “Carolina?”
The napkin slipped out of her fingers and floated to the floor.
“You got the job.” Did that make him feel better or worse since she hadn’t called?
“First day.” Her deep blue eyes had that stunned look, like a white-tailed deer caught in a four-wheeler’s lights at dusk.
“How’s your mother?” He schooled his voice, hoping she couldn’t catch his disappointment.
Her shoulders moved up and down with her sigh. His eyes dropped to her chest. Even in the modest polo, he didn’t need much imagination to remember how she’d pressed against him as they’d kissed.
So why in blazes hadn’t she called?
“They can’t get her seizures under control.” Her fingers crushed the second napkin she pulled for him. “She’s still in the hospital.”
He caught her hand. “I’m sorry.”
“Thanks.” She stared into his eyes.
The noise of the room slipped away. He wanted to make the pain in her deep blue eyes disappear, too.
She shook her head. “Um, what can I get you?”
“What’s on tap?”
“First day.” She winced. “Lots of Southbound.”
“I’ll have their seasonal.” He could have one beer and make it last through dinner.
“I’ll get that.” But she stayed right in front of him.
He smiled. Maybe she hadn’t been blowing him off. Warmth flooded through him.
“Sage?” she asked.
“Yeah?”
“I need my hand back.”
Cripes. He let go and the warmth faded like a leaking balloon. He was an idiot. “Sorry.”
Over her shoulder, she quipped, “I didn’t mind.”
“Like I said, I’m available for dinner or just a shoulder to cry on.” Preferably in bed, but even he wasn’t crass enough to suggest that to her. He wanted to help any way he could. It was the Cornell way.

THE MARRIAGE PACT AND WE ♥ SMALL TOWN ROMANCES - DOUBLE GIVEAWAY!

The Marriage Pact

by Wendi Sotis

A Regency Romance

The heir to an earldom has little control over his own fate, but Mr. James Aldridge promised himself one freedom. To marry for affection instead of wealth or connections. Anger flares when he learns his father has struck a deal: in one year, he will be leg-shackled to Miss Celia Colton, the dazzling beauty who had previously caught his eye. Now certain she was simply performing her role in a scheme to catch him as her husband, resentment prompts James to refuse to squander his last months of independence in the company of such a mistress of manipulation. But why can he not wrench his gaze from her at every encounter?

Completely unaware of the pact that has matched her with James, Miss Celia Colton is at a loss to explain why the man she secretly loves has suddenly become cold and critical. Abandoned by James, who had promised to guide her through her debut Season, she fears she will have to navigate the ton with only her grasping mother and distracted cousin as companions. Surrounded by gentlemen merely interested in her dowry, young ladies who view her as unwelcome competition, and, worse yet, James’s icy stares and disdainful manners, her primary concern is to discover the reason for his altered behaviour. How can she make things right between them? Will a love-match be forever out of her reach?

Praise for The Marriage Pact

This novel had quite a few twists & turns to it that I didn’t quite expect. I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will say I truly enjoyed this book - I felt thoroughly engaged throughout the whole of it & being a regency style novel as well as being a clean read, I can highly recommend it.

THE MARRIAGE PACT Excerpt:

For the moment, the pair of matrons were silently observing Celia interact with a newly introduced gentleman, a Mr. Montgomery. As she rose from yet another curtsy, her gaze deviated from its mark and locked onto a sight that caused her heart to cease beating.

James stood directly across the ballroom, speaking to a lady. Even from this distance, his handsome visage nearly took her breath away. She strained to discern a trace of the deep timbre of his voice from the din of the crowd, but she could not make it out. It had been too long since her heart had soared with the rumbling of his laughter — far, far too long since his smile had warmed her soul.
She willed James to approach. Alas, he did not. The urge to call out to him almost overcame her sense of propriety before the recollection of the change in their situation crashed down on her all at once. Her elation burst, leaving an ache in its place.

She sighed and glanced at Mr. Montgomery, who looked away from her neckline only long enough to sign her dance card.

If she could put up with this man’s ogling her through a set, then surely, she could endure pairing up with James and withstand his angry glares.

Mr. Montgomery returned the card to her hand, and she saw there were still two sets open. As was expected of her, she thanked the gentleman and curtsied once again. Mr. Montgomery bowed and retreated.

Her mother immediately took hold of one of her hands. “Celia! Lord Eagleton has come, after all, and he moves in this direction. Remember everything I have told you, dear — simply everything. You must attract his attention immediately, before Miss Buchannan does so.” She craned her neck to peer around a group of ladies who had moved between them and James.

“Oh, that disagreeable Mr. Kenilworth has delayed Lord Eagleton’s approach. I had the disadvantage of making his acquaintance last summer, while I stayed at Penelope’s estate. Mr. Kenilworth is a distant relation to the baron, and although he may be the younger son of an earl, I do not like that man. Especially not now.” She held out her hand to Celia. “Give me your dance card, dear.”

Celia held onto her card tightly, already suspecting what her mother had in mind. She widened her eyes. “Why?”

“If Mr. Kenilworth delays Lord Eagleton much longer, he will not be able to reserve a set with you. I shall do so for him.”

“But mother …” Celia sputtered out, “Perhaps Lord Eagleton does not wish to request a dance.”

“Nonsense.” Mrs. Colton laughed as she waved the idea away. “Of course he does. He would wish to reserve a set of honour.” She plucked the card and pencil out of Celia’s hand. “You are unengaged for the last set. I shall fill in his name.”

“Mother, please do not —” It was too late. As her mother returned her card, Celia stared at the name now written next to the final set. Viscount Eagleton. Good Lord, what was she to do?

MARRYING THE WEDDING CRASHER by Melinda Curtis
This bachelor’s pretend girlfriend just made a shocking discovery—
She’s pregnant!
Although they dated for only a month, Harley O’Hannigan just agreed to be Vince Messina’s plus-one at a Harmony Valley wedding. Big mistake, given her deepening feelings for the tall, dark, unavailable bachelor. And what about Vince’s long-buried family history? Then there’s the growing secret that could transform this pretend relationship into the real thing…

Praise for Melinda Curtis:
“Wonderfully entertaining!” Jayne Ann Krentz, NYT Bestseller (referring to PLAYING FOR LOVE)
“Reading Slade and Christine’s story reminded me of why I enjoy romance. SEASON OF CHANGE has found a place on my keeper shelf!” Brenda Novak, NYT Bestseller

Harley opened the creaky door to her hot truck cab and climbed in. She missed her Lexus. She missed auto-start and powerful air-conditioning.
She turned the key in the ignition. Nothing. Not so much as a tick of the starter.
She missed reliability.
“Not today,” she muttered.
The truck was finicky. It didn’t like to run when the Houston temperature dropped to the thirties or in thunderstorms, but the day had been hot, the skies clear.
“Come on, baby,” she chided the old vehicle. Don’t leave me stranded with Mr. Carrots and that grin.
Vince, aka Mr. Carrots, locked up his tools and leaned on his truck, staring at hers.
Still nothing. Her backside was growing damp with sweat.
Vince walked toward her with the swagger of a man who knew what his purpose was in life. And, right now, that purpose was to rescue a damsel in distress. “Pop the hood.”
She did, hopping out and joining him at the grille. Not that she knew anything about engines. Her mechanical ability stopped at turning power tools off and on.
Vince tsked and gave Harley a look that disapproved and teased at the same time.
“Hey, don’t judge,” she said. “It runs.”
“It’s not running now.” He drew a blue rag from his back pocket. It was the kind of scrap mechanics used to wipe their hands and touch hot engines. “You might want to spray your engine off every once in a while.” He used the rag to check battery connections, hose connections and to prod the engine compartment as if he knew what he was doing.
“I barely clean my apartment. Why would I clean my engine?”
“So a mechanic can see if you’ve got leaks anywhere, for one thing,” Vince said straight-faced. “Why don’t you try it again?”
She hurried back behind the wheel. The truck started right up. “Traitor,” she accused under her breath.
Vince shut the hood and came around to her window, wiping his hands.
“Thanks.” Harley gave him her polite smile, the one she reserved for helpful salesclerks and the receptionist who squeezed her in at the doctor’s office. “I owe you.”
“Yeeeaah.” He wound out the word and ran his fingers through that thatch of midnight hair. “About that. I need a favor.” Those kind black eyes lifted to her face.
Don’t believe in fairy tales… Don’t believe in fairy tales…
Despite their history, despite knowing better, silly fantasies about princely rescues and Mr. Right fluttered about her chest like happy butterflies on a warm spring day.
She should go. Instead she lingered and asked, “So what’s the favor?”
The devilish grin returned, making the butterflies ecstatic. “I need a date to my brother’s wedding.”

ALWAYS THE HERO by Anna J. Stewart

Butterfly Harbor deputy Matt Knight wants two things: to date Lori Bradley and the chance to adopt Kyle, a troubled teen. Wounded in Afghanistan, Matt knows he can’t move forward anchored to the past. But once he regains the guarded hotel manager’s trust, will his need to protect those he loves cost him a future with this extraordinary woman?
Praise for Anna J Stewart
“The talented Anna J Stewart delivers every time.” ~NYTimes Bestselling Author Brenda Novak
“Anna J. Stewart will tug at your heartstrings more than once while leaving you utterly besotted with her characters.” ~The Romance Reviews

“What’s wrong?” Matt rested his arms on the table and leaned in. She could feel the warmth of his breath, feel the heat of his concerned gaze.
“Nothing.” She shifted in her seat. “It’s…nothing.”
“Now who’s lying?”
Her chin shot up at his accusation but it was then she saw he was teasing her.
“Come on, Lori. Tell me what’s bothering you. You’ve been acting weird since before we came in here. Are you embarrassed to be seen with me?”
“Why on earth would I—” She took a deep breath. “You’re making fun of me.”
“How else am I going to disarm you enough to tell me what’s going on in here.” He reached up and tapped a finger against the side of her head.
“It’s not important.” Darn it, why did she always let this get to her? Why hadn’t she just been honest and told him she didn’t want to go to breakfast?
“Given we’ve spent the last couple of minutes debating that fact, I’ll say you’re wrong. What is it?”
“I just…” Could her face feel any hotter? “I don’t like eating out, okay? There. You got me to confess, copper. Take me to jail.” She held out her wrists, palms up.
“Why don’t you like to eat out?”
“Oh, for…” She tucked her hair behind her ears and sighed. “It’s silly.
Stupid even.”
“Clearly, it’s not. Tell me.”
Tell him? Tell him one of her most embarrassing secrets? Tell him about how even her own parents were disgusted by her? Yeah, that should kill off any residual feelings he might have for her. “When I was a little girl and we went out to eat, my mother would constantly criticize me. I shouldn’t have that or what will people think, a chubby girl like you eating that. I embarrassed her. And she made sure everyone knew it.” All these years later and it still messed with her head. “I told you it was stupid.”
“It’s not stupid. I’m sorry you had to deal with that.” He reached over and held out a hand. She stared at his open palm, heart pounding as she realized how much she wanted to take it. Instead, she pulled her hands into her lap and locked her fingers together. “No child should ever be made to feel less than. For any reason.”
“I totally agree. Which is why I haven’t talked to her in about a gazillion years.” That neither of her parents seemed interested in reaching out to her—or Fletcher—didn’t help the situation. It was one thing to be a child and suspect your parents didn’t like you; it was another to be an adult and know it to be true. “So, there you go. I don’t like to eat out because my mother used to make fun of me for being fat. Bring on the chocolate pudding.”
“Have I mentioned how much I loathe self-deprecating humor?” He sat back and pinned her with a stare that made her shiver. “We’re being honest with each other now, yeah? Stop making fun of yourself. I don’t find the jokes funny and I don’t agree with them. What on earth does your dress size have to do with the type of person you are? I like who you are, Lori. I have from the first time I saw you, so suck it up and deal with it. And while you’re at it, stop making light of things that cause you pain. It’s irritating.”
“Yes, it is.” She didn’t want to take what he said to heart. She didn’t want to believe he meant what she’d always wanted someone to say to her; someone who might actually care for her, love her. “It’s also the one defense mechanism that’s worked for me, so forgive me if I don’t bow to your lack of expertise in this matter.” She meant for the comment to tick him off, drive him away. Offend him to the point he’d settle her firmly in the friends column. Instead, she watched the anger lines around his eyes ease and the
corners of his mouth flicker.
“You’d be surprised what I know about parental disapproval, but that’s a conversation for another time. Look at us, getting to know each other. Being honest with one another. It’s almost like we’re starting a new relationship or something.”
Lori shook her head, wanting nothing more than to walk away and forget that whenever she was with him she didn’t want to be without him. He had a way of making her forget everything that shouldn’t be important. “What’s wrong with you? Everything that should make you angry makes you laugh.”
“And sometimes vice versa,” he confirmed with a shrug. “You have your coping mechanisms, I have mine. And for the record, I’ll give you time to work on that bad habit of yours. Not a lot, but some.”

After the torment of her childhood, Taya believes in love for everyone … except herself. Some things can’t be untaught.

Beautiful and tough, yet the most private woman anyone has ever met, Taya knows everyone has a past, yet she doesn’t share hers. Her past must remain behind her for her sanity and so the only man she has ever loved will move on with someone who hasn’t been destroyed by those who were supposed to protect her.

Then a threat has her past storming back in and taking over.

After looking into the big, baby blue eyes of the deranged little orphan who was dragged, kicking and screaming, into his home, Levi is determined to be the boy who will teach Taya that not every offered hand will betray her.

Playful and gorgeous, Levi’s first passion is the girl who consumes his heart. His second is serving his country, following in his father’s footsteps. When Levi is deployed overseas, he encourages Taya to spread her wings and pursue her dreams, hoping she will come back to her roots and the man who is waiting for her.

Levi is mistaken.

Taya can’t change who she is and has built a life for herself far away from the only man she will ever love.

Can Levi convince Taya their relationship is worth the fight? Can he force her to overcome her fears and let him in completely? Can Levi prove his love is the freedom she has been searching for?

Levi allowed Taya to control their relationship in the past, but now things have changed. He is taking control back, with or without her consent.

INTERVIEW WITH ANNE MARIE CITRO

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

Yes, that not every disability is insurmountable. With love, understanding and trust we can overcome or learn to manage even the most horrible things that happen to us. I also want readers to know that family isn't always formed with blood. Friends are such an intricate part of our souls they become the family we choose, not the ones we are given.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Yes, there are never enough hours in the days. My characters take over my pages as well as my thoughts and dreams. Some are a pain in the butt and I'm not particularly fond of them in my dreams.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I have written five books. Four are published, five is in edits and I'm currently writing book six. This series has six books and then on to the next series. So many thoughts, so little time.

If you had the chance to cast your main characters from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

My main character, Levi, would be the younger version of Colin Farrell. Need I say more than the man is just hot and dirty.

Megan Fox would be my choice for Taya. In all fairness, I don't watch TV or watch many movies so I'm not great at this game.

When did you begin writing?

Three years ago. My four sons grew up and didn't need their mom anymore and now I had twenty-three extra hours in my day.

How long did it take you to complete your first book?

It took me almost a year to write because I had a full-time job and four sons and a husband. Need I say more? Yes, I did it in secret because I was insecure and afraid to tell anyone I was writing. Not sure what they thought I was doing when dinner wasn't on the table and the laundry wasn't getting done and I was leaving for work at five-thirty am.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

I read three books a week so there are a lot of authors that I love. If I had to name one, it would be Diana Gabaldon. Oh, yeah, and Kristen Ashley and Tillie Cole and . . . stop me!

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

Rereading the proof copy. There is no feeling in the world like holding your creation in your hands and then reading it. I keep saying how did I come up with that. Wow, that's pretty good. Damn, I wish I had that guy.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Heartbreaking, hot, funny, sexy!

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

The last book in the series deals with a topic near and dear to my heart, anorexia nervosa. One of the daughters of my heart that I didn't give birth to is a survivor and she gave me her diaries to read for research. Some research puts your life in perspective.
