I'll Love You Tomorrow by Julie Navickas

I'll Love You Tomorrow

The Trading Heartbeats Trilogy Book 3

by Julie Navickas

Genre: Contemporary Romantic Suspense

Follow your heart, even if it takes you all the way to Las Vegas.

For precisely $102 dollars, Mitch Benson and Lauren Templeton marry in a 15-minute ceremony inside a little Las Vegas chapel. Soulmates since elementary school, nothing makes more sense than eloping to Sin City for a secret wedding.

But seven years later, the brilliant glare from the city of lights has faded.

Scratch that. The bulbs are burnt out.

In fact, the wiring may have been faulty all along.

Bitterly accepting that their marriage is coming to an end, Mitch and Lauren stray further and further from the love that once blossomed on the playground of their youth.

Lauren sells her soul to Pier Ninety-Two, her once-fabulous restaurant in downtown Los Angeles now a sad shadow in the Saturday night party scene. And Mitch falls into the arms—er, legs—of none other than childhood enemy, Tess Browning.

Devastated by the direction their love has spiraled, Mitch and Lauren make one last trip to the city of second chances, hoping to turn their pennies into the million-dollar love they once shared.

Will their last roll be a miracle—or a mirage—in the desert?

When Austin resurfaces in her life years later, he brings the past to Mavis’s doorstep. Josh wants her back, Austin isn’t willing to surrender, and the path to happiness isn’t clear. Caught between both men, Mavis must choose between the brother for whom she broke her own heart, and the brother who picked up the pieces.

MARTIMUS - FEISTY LAWYERS BOOK 5

Don't forget the Rafflecopter giveaway at the end of this post!

Martimus
Feisty Lawyers Book 5
by
Seelie Kay
Genre:
Romantic Suspense, Contemporary Romance

Agent Cate Creighton is in love. Unfortunately, as the Agency honeypot, she
is knee-deep in an assignment that tests the bounds of her new
relationship. It seems eight socialites have gone missing, all
wealthy twenty-somethings with influential parents. No one seems to
care until a former vice president’s daughter disappears.

When the vice-president shares a tale of false arrest, a broken promise of
deportation, an illegal diversion into a private prison, and an
alleged trip to an underwater habitat called Martimus, Cate and her
colleagues must find a way to follow the same path. In other words,
they must enter the right prison, meet the right fixer, wind up on
Martimus, and hopefully return in one piece. And it looks like Cate
is the perfect bait.

That doesn’t sit well with Cate’s lover, former U.S. Navy Seal Warren
Hazelton. He intends to protect her until death ‘til do they part.

Fortunately, another possibility appears, in the form of an MISix agent who has
interfered in one too many Agency operations. Tillie Henderson owes
them and they are all too willing to serve her up on a plate. It’s
race against time as the Agency attempts to lure their adversary out
of hiding and into their somewhat ambiguous trap. Maybe then Cate can
finally focus on love.

Tom cocked an eyebrow. “Warren, you’re a former Navy Seal. Isn’t there some sort of limit on the amount of time you can spend under the sea before it starts to seriously impair your health?”

Warren frowned. “Usually two weeks. After that, the lack of exposure to the sun and the constant high pressure oxygenated environment would begin to take a toll. There’s also a psychological impact. Think sensory deprivation. Your senses are out of whack because you’ve been dumped into a soundproof sponge. There is no normal sensory stimulation. No sunlight, no sound… Even taste and smell become compromised. Coming back to the real world would be an adjustment.

“In addition, those underwater stations are small. People are right on top of each other. Things we take for granted, like privacy, hot showers, home cooked meals, are in short supply. That can create anxiety, depression, and stress. No way he served that sentence consecutively. He had to take a break in between.”

Warren gazed at Tom. “That environment is more hostile than a prison. You may not be in danger from other inmates, but you are putting your life at risk. Three months sounds like way too much time to be stuck underwater though, especially if you’re not leaving the station for deep sea diving on a regular basis. They must be breaking up the time somehow, otherwise they’d have a pretty tough situation on their hands. A lot of contract workers would be headed to a rubber room. It would be extremely difficult to survive a month, much less three, down there.”

“Could they be treating the inmates like guinea pigs?” Hope asked. “Testing their limits? Tracking actual survival rates?”

Warren sighed. “Possibly. It’s not like they have to answer to anyone. They are located in international waters. No country in particular has legal oversight. I imagine they could be doing anything they want without recourse. Unfortunately, when the prospect of a reduced sentence is dangled in front of some people, they grab it, damn the consequences. If one or two inmates suffer some sort of harm or die along the way, they chalk it up to collateral damage.”

“And who’s going to know?” Cate shook her head. “Someone dies, they probably flush them down a chute into the deep sea and they become shark chum. No evidence left behind.”

Hope cringed. “God, that’s kind of evil. But that still doesn’t answer our original question. Where the hell is Fuzzy? Has he already served out his sentence? Has he been released, and if he has, where the hell is he? He’s the one we need to find. He could have a lot of the answers.”

“That lack of governmental oversight is troubling,” Tom said. “If Cassie McIntyre is down there, I can’t believe the CIA isn’t all over it. At least, our government should be doing a welfare check through the Red Cross or something.”

Warren grimaced. “Unless no one knows she is down there. Think about it. They are on the bottom of the ocean, more than two miles under the sea. It’s not like you can just go down there and knock on the door. Any regular monitoring would be impossible.”

Cate nodded. “And we haven’t been able to confirm that she embarked on the same path as Fuzzy. All we’ve got are suspicions. Right now, she’s missing. We need to sit down with her family and get more information. And we need to find other prisoners who contracted with Martimus.

“Otherwise, we’ve got nothing.”

Hope
Feisty Lawyers Book 4

No one knows what they’re made of until they’re broken. At the
tender age of twenty-two, Hope Ali has finally joined the
organization of her dreams, the Agency, an elite group of attorneys
who go undercover to right wrongs the law can’t. The requirements
are stringent, the training exhausting.

After seeking asylum in the United States when she was sixteen, Hope and her father,
Sheikh Harun Ali, settled in a quiet Wisconsin town, hiding from
those who had placed a price on their heads. Still, she excelled,
finishing her university and law school education by the time she was twenty-one.

Now, after breezing through the Agency training
program, Hope appears to be indestructible—until she is assigned a
simple task during the rescue of an author among the disappeared in
the UAE. The task? To distract the woman’s captors until she can be
spirited out of the country.

Unfortunately, a member of MISix has other plans. In an attempt to disrupt the Agency’s mission, she tips off one of Hope’s enemies, alerting them to her location. Hope
manages to lead the author’s captors on a merry dance, freeing
others to rescue her, until she is unexpectedly confronted with a
violent angry mob intent on harm.

She is left bloody and broken. No one knows whether Hope’s body or her mind will heal.
Suddenly Hope is no longer just her name. It is also the one thing
she must embrace to find her new normal.

Cult
Feisty Lawyers Book 3

When college students begin disappearing from American campuses, a
notorious cult, God’s Delight, is the primary suspect. God’s
Delight has been hosting shows featuring sex, drugs, and rock and
roll around the country, and young people are flocking to them.

Among the missing is the President’s goddaughter, and he wants answers.
When he asks Agent Cade Matthews, a member of a secret covert
organization, to find her, the mission appears fairly
straightforward. Find the God’s Delight compound, determine whether
a welfare check on American cult members is warranted, and get out.
Simple. Clean. Easy.

Cade sends newly-married Agents Dianna Murphy and Anders Mark to the
University of Wisconsin to follow the trail to God’s Delight, but
when they wind up in Bolivia, things go sideways. Suddenly, what
appeared to be nothing more than a simple in-and-out could cost
Dianna her life. When an Agency extraction is ordered, chaos erupts,
and the question becomes, will anyone survive?

Infamy
Feisty Lawyers Book 2

When international law attorney Sheikh Harun Ali is lured to the Amazon
and warned of a frightening plot against the United States, he and
his wife, Marianne Benson, enlist the assistance of their neighbors,
covert agent Cade Matthews and his wife, Constitutional Law Professor
Janet MacLachlan. Ultimately, these feisty lawyers are pushed to the
wall, desperate to find a plane that has been buried in an unknown
cornfield, the passengers still on board. The terrorists’ hatred
for the Alis is absolute—the Alis once left their organization
bankrupt and broken—but they hate America more. And their fiendish
games are just beginning. They are seeking a much bigger prize—one
that could destroy a nation and possibly the world. An act that will live in infamy.

Snatching Dianna
Feisty Lawyers Book 1

When suburban Milwaukee law student Dianna Murphy fails to connect with
her roommate, there is no real evidence that she has been snatched.
Until Law Professor Janet MacLachlan, a former covert agent,
discovers a single clue, one that points to a taking by a slave
trafficking cartel. In a race against time, Janet recruits her
husband, secret agent Cade Matthews, small-town Police Chief David
Manders and his wife, criminal defense attorney Julianna Constant,
and other law students to uncover the truth. Can they prove she has
been taken, before Dianna disappears without a trace?

An Interview with Seelie Kay:

Q. Why do you write romance?

Because I am fascinated by the games people play to find and secure a lasting relationship, which is not always love. There’s the chase, the courtship, the falling, the surrender. That’s what I try to capture in my stories.

Q. Do you prefer a certain type of romantic hero?

I adore smart, dashing gentlemen who aren’t afraid to live on the edge. They can be a bad boy, a billionaire, a prince, or a secret agent. That hint of danger just hooks me! However, I they have to be paired with strong, independent women who aren’t afraid to fight for what they want, even love.

Q. Why did you write “Martimus?”

This is the final book in the series, so I needed a way to tie up a lot of loose ends. That meant the Feisty Lawyers needed a compelling story to accomplish that. Something in space was beyond the realm of believability, but something at the bottom of the ocean? The possibilities were endless. I went in all sorts of directions at first, but ultimately made Martimus a key step in a much broader journey. The bottom of the ocean is an unforgiving environment. Survival is never guaranteed. Divert a few socialites there to serve out a prison sentence, make then disappear, and you’ve got what I hope is an exciting story!

As a former lawyer, I also developed an interest in private prisons. These are institutions that are governed by a different set of rules and not all institutions follow the same rules. In some cases, the private prison an inmate winds up in can mean the difference between survival and death. In addition, there have been several cases of prosecutors and judges who received a financial incentive to divert inmates to private prison. Some were so incentivized that people innocent of the crimes with which they were charged have been convicted just so the prosecutor or judge could get their kickback. It is an industry that requires serious regulation and monitoring.

Q. How does your former profession as a lawyer impact your writing?

My friends say I am obsessed with justice and I guess that’s true. After 30 years, the law and the legal world are so firmly embedded in my brain that I can’t flush them out. That has become the lens through which I view the world and that naturally guides my characters and plots. Injustice infuriates me, but it also leads me to great stories!

She’s in love with her sister’s killer...
Lauren has loved Luke since first grade. They planned to marry—until he murdered her sister. The moment he was sentenced to prison, Lauren fled with her secret baby and made a new life. Now she’ll do anything to keep their daughter safe. But her hard won peace shatters when Luke is exonerated, and it sets her on a path of mixed emotions to discover the truth. Letting a killer into their tightly knit family is out of the question. Or is it?

She almost destroys her life by threatening his…
Prison stole his future with Lauren and twelve years of Luke’s life, so the last thing he needs from her is a knife in the back or a gun in his face. Lauren believes he killed her sister, and he has no plans to pick up where they left off. Luke can’t afford to trust her, but he wants nothing more than to convince her he’s worth fighting for.

Their daughter is in danger…
Luke is heartbroken when he learns they had a child together. Now his daughter is in danger. Lauren trusted the wrong person for far too long, but he hopes she’ll now trust him. Luke will risk everything to keep them safe. And Lauren will risk everything if she lets him into her heart.

When Lauren strode through the door and saw Luke, she halted. A panic switch flicked on in her chest, heart pounding in fight-or-flight mode.
Stay. Don’t run. She forced her erratic breathing to slow.
Laramie stood beside her. Laramie. Why hadn’t she picked up the car later, when Laramie wasn’t around? Oh yeah, because she never expected to confront Luke at the same body shop he recommended.
Jim Edwards approached. She didn’t know him well, but enough to know he was a good man and ran a good shop. He and his wife owned and managed it together. Despite Luke’s recommendation, Jim’s reputation made it her first choice. Knowing Luke worked here would have changed everything.
Jim was tall but squatty, with a permanent curve to his back, a twinkle in his eyes, and salt and pepper hair. Grease covered his clothes. He rubbed his hands in a towel but didn’t offer a shake.
“Ms. Cooper, good to see you again. Your vehicle is ready. You wanna look it over first?”
The shop was full of grease and tools and contraptions expected to be in such a workplace. A sign to her right pointed to the office. That’s the direction she should have gone. If only she had known to avoid Luke.
“Um.” She wet her lips, swallowed, and ignored Luke’s gaze from the other side of the garage. “Who handled the repairs?”
“Oh, that’d be Luke Fuller. Great technician. He’s standing right over there if you’d like to talk to him.”
Jim pointed, but she knew exactly who Luke Fuller was.
What kind of joke was this? A joke with destiny? How had Luke been the one to repair her vehicle? It was practically his fault she had wrecked. Not directly his fault, but indirectly. She had been running from him and from all the emotions he’d wrought in her.
He should have told her he worked here.
“Luke,” Jim called, waving him over. She hadn’t answered, so he must have thought that meant she wanted to talk with the technician.
She didn’t. She wanted to get into her car and run away. She’d have to force herself to go slow and easy so she didn’t wreck. Luke’s long strides ate up the distance between them.
“That’s okay, we’re good to go,” she told Jim, but he kept waving Luke over.
She had wanted to talk to him. Tell him how sorry she was about everything that happened. But now wasn’t the time. Her whole body shook, weakness assailing her when her daughter gasped beside her.
“Laramie, get in the car,” she whispered.
Laramie was busy studying the man coming toward them, blatantly curious. She undoubtedly recognized Luke from her online search.
He stopped in front of them. Lauren tried to turn Laramie away, but Jim spoke.
“Can you go over the Escape with Ms. Cooper? I’ve got to run. Great to meet you and do business with you, ma’am. You can settle up your deductible in the office there. Claire will take care of you. Or Luke can take care of it, too.” He nodded toward the door and offered his hand. “Have a great day, little lady,” he said to Laramie. The man walked away, and she stared at his disappearing back, her mouth opening but no words formed.
I don’t want to talk to Luke, she wanted to say.
She avoided his gaze and eyed Jim’s retreating back as if he was her lifeline. But when she turned back to Luke, his brows creased and his head swiveled between Laramie and her.
She planted her hand on Laramie’s shoulder. “Get in the car. I’ll be there in a minute.” Her voice was shaky, empty, and way too tactless not to sound suspicious. She couldn’t have him studying Laramie too long. She didn’t need him to figure things out. And she damn sure didn’t want Laramie questioning anything.
“As you can see, ma’am, we replaced the passenger door and fixed the front fender. The bumper was a bit skewed, and—”
She whirled on him, her eyes flashing fire. “And what else did you do?” Her whisper was a silent but scorching scream, only meant for his ears. But not silent enough Laramie wouldn’t hear the irritation. Her daughter continued to stand beside her, but she was too shocked to do anything about it.
He gave a slight headshake as if confused by her outburst. “Excuse me?”
“I’m supposed to get into this vehicle now? After you’ve touched it?”
He took a step back, his mouth opening.
“I replaced your fender and repaired your passenger door. Your bumper needed a bit of adjustment, too.”
Angry fire clogged her throat, her voice an eerie grumbling twang. Laramie stood silent beside her, watching her, observing her reaction. Lauren bit back on her fear.
This was Luke’s daughter. Luke’s daughter, and he didn’t know it, didn’t need to know it. She never would have brought her if she’d known he was working here. But now her best interest was to know everything she could about him, including his daily routine and where he worked, so she never had to run into him again.
Best to stay composed and avoid attention. She didn’t need her daughter wondering, or Luke studying her daughter too much.
She needed to get out of here.
His gaze flipped to hers, then to Laramie’s. She shielded her by shifting ever so slightly in front of her, but the question in his eyes revealed his curiosity.
“Mom?” Her daughter’s voice held that tween-angst-trust-no-one-and-question-everything tone.
“Get in the car,” she told Laramie, biting back her name. She refused to speak her name in front of Luke, as if that made everything real.
“You have a daughter?” Luke’s voice rose in a choppy wave of aggression.
No one besides them was in the shop. What would Jim’s reaction be if he knew he’d left her alone with the man who had sired her child and gone to prison for murdering her sister?
Her belly tightened. The car stereo fired up, jolting her back to reality. Laramie had climbed into the car, doing as asked, and a boomy bassy song blared from the speakers. The rumble resonated in her heartbeat.
“How old is she?” Luke asked. Why was she still here, her feet planted into the concrete floor as if stuck? His eyes flashed, lips curled. Her entire body shook. Curled into knots.
She squared her shoulders. “Thank you for the repair,” she said, then turned on her heel toward the car.

GROUNDWORK FOR MURDER

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. The authors will be awarding a 16X20 Signed Matted Print "Flora Blanca" by author, Florida artist Sharon Goldman, to a randomly drawn winner via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Flora Blanca by Sharon Goldman

GROUNDWORK FOR MURDER

Landscape artist Alexandra Newborn dreams of a one-woman show at the Diamond Gallery. But the gallery owner dismisses her paintings as "old, tired, and dull. Lacking excitement." Those words also describe Alex's unhappy marriage.

Alex's shocking reunion with her college art professor, Dominick "Nick" Anselmo—once a world-celebrated Italian artist, now a homeless lawn man—reignites their passion and fuels a creative spark for both, helping Nick recover from his wife's death.

With Nick's provocative sketches, art imitates life, but Alex doesn't realize they reveal a dangerous liaison between her husband and the gallery owner. Without Nick's knowledge, Alex arranges an art opening that includes his drawings.

When the torrid affair between Alex's husband and his mistress is exposed, the seeds are sown for murder, mystery, and romance.

Read an Excerpt:

The man grabbed her hand.

“Let go!” Alex shrieked.

“Alexandra, wait.”

Startled, Alex twisted painfully in the man’s solid grip as she gave him a closer look.

“Do I know you?”

Alex focused on his face, which was vaguely familiar, and tried hard to bury the image of the rest of the man’s body, which, although she’d only been exposed to a flash of flesh, was oddly disturbing. And when she did, she got another shock.

“P-Professore Anselmo?”

The man released her hand and came out from behind the shelter of the bushes, smiled shyly, and nodded. Although she hadn’t recognized his accent earlier, there was no mistaking his identity. But the last time she’d seen him, his smile had been almost smug and his mouth had been busy doing more than smiling. She’d buried the recollection of their last encounter so deep even she wasn’t clear about the details of just how far they’d gone and how far she had been prepared to go.

It was hard to reconcile the man of her dreams with this nasty-looking person standing in front of her. Professore Dominick Anselmo had been her college art teacher, her inspiration, her secret crush, until he’d been exposed for improper behavior with his graduate assistant and expelled from the university. The scandal had rocked the Art and Architecture Department and blasted a rift in Alex’s personal world.

“Professore?” she repeated, her jittery voice rising a level. “What are you doing here?”

redemption and clarity- would I find my truth? I am Talyn Rose
Easton-Galiano and this is my story of who I was, who I became, and
ultimately who I am. They say that life is stranger than fiction...
but they don't have my life.

I think I’ve smoked two packs of cigarettes today and chugged Illy espresso by the gallon. Jamieson needs to get here already. He called me from the road to tell me he had a stop to make that was important to him but would be here by suppertime. I hope he likes shrimp and grits because I’ve made enough to feed the whole state of Louisiana. I’m in my bathroom putting my face on when Gracen comes in.

“Your pop is at the gate. You ready to meet him, beautiful? Breathe and enjoy the experience. He never gave up on you.”

“I’m ready. Does this lipstick make me look like a hooker?”

“Babe, your lipstick looks great. I take it that shoes don’t go with Chanel?” I love beautiful shoes but hate wearing them.

“I’m going for the classy-country-bumpkin look. Chanel goes with everything, Gracen, but shoes do not. Let’s go meet my pop!”

I can see his truck coming up the drive from the front windows but I can’t wait. I step out onto the front porch and literally see my past coming toward me. He sees me and the truck starts moving faster. Five, four, three, two, one—it’s go time. The truck door flings open and my pop… he gets out and stands rooted to the gravel drive and cries.

I fly off the porch in my bare feet and vintage Chanel sundress and run right into his arms. He grabs me tight and I can feel the past forty-one years within his hug. Sometimes life is ugly and not fair but sometimes the ugly makes way for the beautiful moments that restore your faith. This is our beautiful moment.

“Little Dove, I have dreamed of this day all of your life. I can now live in peace and when my time is up, I can die a complete man. You are more beautiful than your pictures. You look like your grandma Sharon. I love you so much, baby girl.” He won’t let go and I don’t want his hug to ever end.

“Pop, I can’t find the words to tell you what this means to me. I’ve been accused of having diarrhea of the mouth because I never shut up but… words just can’t do justice to this moment. I love you. Thank you for never forgetting me.”

Perryen Livingston is a Southern-raised, Sicilian born, self-proclaimed rebel
Belle. She is a lover of espresso, great books, all things Chanel, and Great Danes.

two sons. In 2016, she finally was able to put down roots in Central
Florida— the land of sunshine, beaches, and Disney.

Always one who needed to be creative to thrive, whether it be ballet or
fashion design— Perryen knew her next adventure lay between the
pages of a novel, her novel.
When she’s not writing, Perryen lives the domestic life wifein’ and
momin’: lint-rolling dog hair off her signature-style black
leggings, walking around barefoot, and spending time relentlessly
loving on her family.

Little Dove is her first book in The Redenzione Series and will have two
more books to follow. You can stay up to date on what’s happening
