MY LATEST RELEASE IS LIVE!

Hooray! Help me celebrate the release of MAIL ORDER GLORIA: AN IMPOSTOR FOR CHRISTMAS, book 7. I love being a part of this series, which was conceived by the multi-talented Cheryl Wright. Today is about MAIL ORDER GLORIA, which takes place in 1878. She’s a good person stuck in a small town in Georgia, where she has no prospects for a husband nor a way to support herself.

Here’s the book description:

A desperate woman…

A distrustful rancher with a secret…

And a boy in need of a family.

Orphaned at an early age and sent to live with her relatives, Gloria Tabor is fed up with the treatment she receives from her weak-willed uncle, hateful aunt, and spiteful cousin. In a moment of desperation, she leaves her only relatives’ home. With her small savings, where is she to go? The question is sobering, but she is determined she will not return to her kin’s home. She vows she will become a stronger-willed and more adventurous person.

While deliberating her lack of choice, she overhears a young man comforting a sobbing woman she recognizes as a friend from school. After a few minutes of conversation with them, the friend offers Gloria the chance to escape town to a ranch in Texas as a mail order bride. In exchange, Gloria must promise not to divulge her real identity until the couple has eloped and had a honeymoon. Elated at the opportunity fulfill her vow, Gloria agrees.

On the way to her prospective groom, Gloria rescues a ten-year-old boy from a policeman who wants to take the boy to the local orphanage. Heart filled with sympathy for the homeless child, she intercedes. Later, she wonders how her prospective groom will react to her bringing an unexpected child with her.

Texas rancher Dwight Price is a stickler for honesty. Once someone has lost his confidence, he won’t fully trust the person again. He strives to live up to his beliefs. On the one hand, he isn’t certain he wants to wed the daughter of his father’s oldest friend. On the other hand, he looks forward to a life of quiet harmony with his mail order bride.

Near Christmas, Gloria gets a telegram releasing her from her promise. Dwight wants to know who sent the wire and why. Her explanation destroys the faith he had in her—and then his own secret crops up.

Can these two overcome the damage to tsheir relationship or will each be alone again?

Enjoy an excerpt. They went from the stage depot to the church and were married. They've just arrived at the ranch and Dwight is showing Gloria the house:

Gloria and Dwight climbed the stairs and paused in the hall.

As Tommy and Mike ran past them, Tommy said, “I’m gonna show Mike my room.”

Dwight called, “Mike, pick your room.”

Mike stopped and turned to stare. “You mean I get my own room?”

Dwight laughed. “Sure. Did you think we’d make you sleep hanging from the rafters?”

Solemn, Mike shook his head. “I didn’t know what to think.”

“Now you do. If I were you, I’d choose one next to Tommy’s or across the hall. Doesn’t matter to me which, so suit yourself. But you boys don’t run in the house.”

Tommy grabbed Mike’s arm. “Come on, I’ll show you.”

The two boys walked so fast they almost ran.

She said, “Thank you for making Mike feel welcome. I’m sure he’s had a rough life.”

“No doubt. Guess I’m a little surprised you rescued him. Doesn’t sound like the person from your letters or what Papa’s told me about your life.”

She stopped and stared into his eyes. “That’s not a nice thing to say. Do you believe me to be shallow and selfish?”

He took a step back and raised his hands at his side. “I don’t mean anything bad. Usually if someone has had a lot of… well, advantages, they don’t sympathize as much with those less fortunate. I mean, giving money to a cause is fine, but acting toward an individual is entirely different.” He grimaced. “Your face is all clouded up, so I’ve said that badly.”

She took a deep breath while she counted to ten. “I think I understand your meaning, but don’t judge everyone comfortably well-off by the same standard. I care a great deal about orphans and the homeless and those less fortunate.” He might have intended that for Juliet, but he used poor judgment. Even if she wasn’t the real Juliet, she wanted to give him a stern lecture.

“Look, forgive me for the way I expressed myself. I didn’t mean what I said as an insult.”

She crossed her arms under her chest. “Oooh, I hope you never intend to insult me. That would be excruciating.”

“As Papa often reminds me, when you’re in a hole, quit digging. Let’s look at the rooms on this floor, shall we?”

NEW SERIES RELEASES!

I have great news! Today the first of the sweet historical Impostor For Christmas series releases. This nine-book series is, as you suspected, about a mail order bride who pretends to be someone else. There are nine reasons for the charade and nine reactions when the true identity is revealed. Each book in the series is stand alone and has no relation to the other books except each book occurs at Christmastime. Each is a complete story to brighten your mood and relieve your holiday stress.

First to be released is Cheryl Wright’s novella, MAIL ORDER LILLIAN: AN IMPOSTOR FOR CHRISTMAS.

Lillian is an unwilling impostor bride. What will Simon do when he discovers her secret?

Montana -- 1880. Simon Watson, owner of a prosperous ranch, needs a wife to look after his motherless four-year-old daughter.

Joy Hanover accepts Simon's proposal, but later changes her mind. She begs her cousin Lillian to go in her place -- leaving out the part she found most objectionable, namely Simon's child.

Lillian plans to tell Simon about her deception the moment she arrives in Samson's Creek, but the best of plans can often go awry.

What will happen when Simon finds out he married an impostor? Will he have the marriage annulled, or will they stay married and get the happy ever after ending each of them crave?

Author's Promise: This is a heartwarming historical Christmas novella with a happily ever after ending and no cliffhangers. It is a clean and wholesome story with nothing more than hugs, kisses, and holding hands.

SNEAK PEEKS!

By Caroline Clemmons

This is an exciting time in my writing. I have many projects in the works and want to share a few with you. The rest of 2020 is filled with book launches and 2021 has numerous titles already scheduled. Of course, as well as being available in e-book and in print, all my titles are free in Kindle Unlimited.

The closest release will be at the end of next week on the 19th when I publish AN AGENT FOR JUDITH, book 79 in The Pinkerton Matchmaker Series. In fact, you can preorder this one now and it will show up on your e-reader magically on release day. AN AGENT FOR JUDITH required a lot of research but I enjoyed it. Hero and I love northern New Mexico. Writing about the area was hard work, but also a pleasure. Virginia McKevitt did the cover for this title. I wish my hair were like the model's. I wouldn't mind looking like her either. In case you want to preorder AN AGENT FOR JUDITH, click https://mybook.to/Judith

July 1-July 31 is Christmas in July, sponsored by Cheryl Wright. She’s an Australian author who writes the Old West as well as if she had lived there. She’s also an incredibly nice person. She’s rounded up a slew of bargains for your summer reading.

On July 7 DESPERATE IN DELAWARE, book 11 in the Yours Truly: The Lovelorn Series, will be released. This is a column in the tradition of an early Dear Abby column. People write in and The Lovelorn offers advice. Mina Stapleton goes west to visit her cousin and, hopefully, meet a husband. Austin is glad to have a wife, but his legal battle against his neighbor keeps him on edge. Winning against the neighbor is the only way to save his cattle and his ranch. DESPERATE IN DELAWARE is now available for preorder at https://mybook.to/Mina.

August 4 is the date a Secret Project will release… shhhh, it’s a surprise for later!

August 18 will be the release date for LOUISIANA BRIDE, book 12 in the North and South Series. This book takes place in 1862. While the Civil War rages, people still find romance. Phoebe Boudreaux and two of her friends aid Captain Cody Claiborn's escape before he’s sent to a Union prison. How could bringing food to those who need it be criminal? Although he willingly goes with them, he lectures them on the dangers of treason for their part in his escape. But, can they get him to safety and then to his ship before they're caught?

CHARLOTTE’S CHALLENGE, Golden Legacy Series, will release September 18. That puts the callous descendant of a pirate in the clutches of a desperate widow close to losing her ranch. Charlotte Dunn surprises herself when she finds an injured man who appears to have amnesia. A woman will concoct quite a story when faced with losing her livelihood and the ranch her late husband worked so hard to found. With a case of amnesia, Brett Craig has no choice but to believe the lovely widow and her children. After her stern lecture that this is the only time they can lie, her stepchildren help her trick this man into helping them. His soft hands soon have blisters. Is he on the way to being reformed?

There are more releases coming your way. If you haven't followed me on BookBub, please do so. You'll be notified when I have a new release. Here's the link:
